Harry A History

July 26, 2008

I wanted to share my excitement about an up and coming book release with my fellow Harry Potter fans. As some of you know, I’ve been a huge fan of the Harry Potter series for a number of years. One of my favorite HP sites is The Leaky Cauldron, which also produces a great podcast as well. Which is why I’m very excited about the early November release of Harry A History.

Melissa Anelli, celebrated web-mistress of The Leaky Cauldron and co-host of the podcast, has recently completed her soon to be published book, Harry A History. The book will take a look at the history of the famed series, starting from the birth of Harry in J.K. Rowling’s mind and following the franchise through the release of the 7th and final book. She’ll explore the amazing fandom that’s developed and continues to thrive across the world. From the birth of Wizard Rock, fan fiction, online forums, and much more, the book will explore the entire history of everyone’s favorite boy wizard, and how he captivated the world. From the website:

“The Harry Potter books are a triumph of the imagination that did far more than break sales records for all time. They restored the world’s sense of wonder and took on a magical life of their own. Now the series has ended, but the story is not over. With remembrances from J.K. Rowling’s editors, agents, publicists, fans, and Rowling herself, Melissa Anelli takes us on a personal journey through every aspect of the Harry Potter phenomenon — from his very first spell to his lasting impact on the way we live and dream.” (source)

The book will also include a forward by J.K. Rowling, which is an amazing testament to the work Melissa has put into this release. For any fan of Harry, this will be a must read and an amazing addition to all things Potter!

For the record, I’m well aware of how dorky I am.
