Oh dear, this could be bad, I mean really bad. Though, maybe it could be good? No, it’s MTV, so it’ll be bad! I choked on my coffee this morning when I read the following headline: “MTV Readies Rocky Horror Redux.”
That’s right, MTV has planned to remake the queer cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show. After reading a few articles on this, I really tried to keep an open mind. However, I think this is going to be terrible. I am well aware that plenty of musicals and films are born again out of the hands and minds of new actors, producers, and directors. Some of them have even been successful! But Rocky Horror is sacred! It should be left alone! Further, we’re talking about MTV here, so naturally they’re going to do something stupid like cast Tila Tequila as Magenta. Not to mention there is talk of adding additional songs not featured in the original. Sigh.
I can’t fathom how one would recreate the magic of Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Meatloaf. The original film from 1975 was too campy and outrageous to be redone. It’ll be done up, commercialized, softened, and resemble a tranny version of High School Musical. I hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see this being good.

Lovely. MTV? They ruin everything. They are going to over advertise and piss on the underground aesthetic of Rocky Horror. Boo!!!!! (tear)
