If anyone was bothered by the planned construction of the Spire, take a look at what could have been! This was an original plan by Frank Lloyd Wright. The Illinois was planned to have stood 5,278 feet and Wright was convinced with careful engineering that this building was actually possible. Can you imagine what this would do to the skyline?
i’ve read about this read a while ago. i actually think it would have been cool and ahead of its time, like something you’d see in “metropolis”. the spire currently being built is ugly-ish, but it will make the chicago skyline even more world famous.
